Buenos Aires, December 9 (NA) – The mother of Sergio David Díaz, the bus driver murdered during Christmas 2024 by the retired police officer Rafael Moreno in the Buenos Aires locality of Lomas del Mirador, stated that she had expected a 13-year sentence for the culprit and lamented: 'He killed me too.' Cristina spoke with the Argentine News Agency about the sentence of eight and a half years in prison for the former federal officer for negligent homicide: 'I ask that the established sentence be made final and carried out.' In this sense, the woman stated that Moreno 'killed her son' and denied that it was an 'accident,' so she insisted: 'I ask Justice to please comply.' During the celebration, Moreno approached menacingly to ask them to turn down the music, to which he received a negative response. Faced with this scenario, Moreno drew his weapon, displayed it, and began to intimidate the victim, who became enraged: 'You're a cool guy.' 'I ask God for strength to keep going,' she stated. 'This person killed me too,' Cristina said, pained by the crime that occurred on December 25, 2024. Meanwhile, Karina, the victim's cousin, stated: 'I think he went out to kill on a festive night, the shot didn't miss, and he never showed remorse.' 'Let him pay his debt in prison, it's not what we wanted, but let him pay as he should. Don't take the iron away from me, who do you think you are?' It was just seconds later when the retiree pressed the trigger and shot Díaz in the abdomen, causing his death minutes later. 'Nothing and no one will bring Sergio back to us,' she added. Díaz was with friends and his family on the sidewalk of his house listening to music and drinking alcohol. 'I need justice.'
